TEATRO LUNAR
A circular theater in the middle of the woods.
Made of wood and of reflective surfaces.
There is no electric light.
The only light is that of the full moon.
A reflection of a reflection.
Twelve performances, one for each moon.
A whole year of encounters.
The time of the work is the time of the sky.
DESCRIPTION
Teatro Lunar is a collective creation project developed in Cerro Carancho, a rural area of Rivera, together with neighbors from the community, within the framework of MUMA, Museo de la Madera.
In the museum's park, a circular stage device is built of wood and refractive surfaces, functioning at once as a venue, an optical instrument and a meeting point.
There is no electric light: the only illumination is that of the full moon reflected on those surfaces, a reflection of a reflection. The project unfolds over twelve performances, one for each full moon throughout a year.
Portuñol, the language of the border, is the dramaturgical material from which the work's spoken word is built. Each performance is different: the light changes, the weather changes, who comes changes.
